Sitting on my Head

“Sitting on my head”, is an off-the-cuff way of complaining, which suggests stressing me out to harass to tease about something.

Imagine, an individual who has agreed to try to do you a favor but he won’t be able to do it unless you are physically present in front of each other.

You could not expect him to try to do your work if you tell him once and leave him so that he may do it when he gets time is called as ‘Sitting on someone’s head and make them work’.

An Individual who has agreed to try to do the favor may probably not willing to do it or forget it or not understanding the urgency of work. Thereby needs to be follow-up by a person asking to do the favor, so he doesn’t forget about it and try to do it instantly before anything else.

Instead of Saying this Say this
He is totally sitting on my head to help him complete his project work. He is irritating me to help him complete his project work.
My parents are sitting on my head to clear my exams. My parents are after me to clear my exams.

Other similar phrases said in this context are, ‘eating my head’, ‘eating my brain’. It is not mean in the literal sense. But, they mean ‘to irritate someone’ or is an informal way of saying that ‘someone won’t stop talking’.

We have to ensure that, these phrases ate not to be used as they are extremely hard to understand.
